A machine may have oil in the system and still suffer from lubrication-related damage. Contaminated oil, clogged metering units, damaged lines, chip intrusion, coolant mixing, and incorrect lubricant selection can all reduce protection.

Contamination is especially concerning because it can carry abrasive particles into areas where smooth, controlled movement is critical. Over time, those particles can accelerate wear and reduce the life of precision surfaces.

Why Lubrication Should Be Part of Every Inspection

A good maintenance inspection should not only confirm that a lubrication reservoir has oil in it. It should also verify that oil is being delivered properly, that lines and meters are functioning, that contact surfaces are protected, and that the system fits how the machine is actually being used.
